Nuraghe

In the city of Arzachena, there is an important archaeological site of important historical testimony where the architectural feature is given by the presence of an ancient Nuraghe.

Nuraghi are stone constructions in the shape of a cone without a tip present in different concentrations throughout Sardinia. They are unique in their kind and representative of the Nuragic civilization. Today, about seven thousand of them remain standing, scattered throughout the island, on average one every 3 km², strongly characterizing the Sardinian landscape.

The nuraghe La Prisgiona is a Nuragic archaeological site (occupied from the 14th to the 9th century BC), located in the beautiful Capichera valley, in the municipality of Arzachena, the site is about 30 minutes from Alma del Mar.

The complex is composed of an ancient nuraghe and a village of about 90-100 huts, spread over five hectares.
Due to its large extension and the number of buildings, the site is considered unique in the Gallura Nuragic context.
The giants’ tomb of Coddu Vecchiu is also located nearby.
