The beautiful church of Stella Maris (star of the sea) is located in Porto Cervo in Costa Smeralda, it is a true masterpiece of contemporary sacred architecture, with a sober and soft style in its sinuous walls reflecting its white coat so typically Mediterranean. The church was designed by the architect Michele Busiri Vici in the 60s, by desire of the bishop of the time, Mons. Giovanni Melis and the parish priest Don Raimondo Fresi.
Costa Smeralda was born in that splendid period at the desire of H.A. Prince Karim Aga Khan and so it was that the Prince who came from the sea chose in the noble gesture, to pay homage to the land, a gesture of the highest ecumenical value and interreligious dialogue.
So under the September sun of a Costa Smeralda now in full evolution, the first stone was laid and blessed, immediately after October 16 the church of Stella Maris received Civil recognition, with a decree from the Presidency of the Republic.
In 1990, beautiful bronze doors were inserted into the front facade of the Church, made by Maestro Luciano Minguzzi and donated by important personalities.
